The NASCAR K&N Pro Series, both East and West divisions are NASCAR's highest level driver development race series. Many legendary NASCAR Cup drivers began their professional careers in one of the three national NASCAR series from this level. The K&N Pro Series features race cars similar to those used in the NASCAR Nationwide Series with specific modifications designed to keep racing costs to a minimum.

The West Series was first formed in 1954 as a proving ground for drivers from the west who could not travel to race in the more traditional stock car racing regions like North Carolina and the rest of the South. Currently, all K&N Series races are west of the Mississippi River. Notable drivers who began their careers in the West Series include Kevin Harvick, Brendan Gaughan and Derrike Cope.

This event marks the third consecutive  year the West Series returns to the two mile road course at Portland International Speedway since its first race in 1986, won by Herschell McGriff . Christened the  NASCAR K&N Bi-Mart 125. Salute the the Troops, the weekend event draws crowds in the tens of thousands with activities over three days.

In addition to the main event, the cars of the Portland based Great American Stockcar Series (GASS) will be on track all weekend, racing on Sunday and providing ride-along opportunities to the public on Saturday. These NASCAR style stock cars are equipped with passenger seats, and provide a rare opportunity to ride along at speed on a professional event weekend.

SCRS, Historic Stock Car Race Series is an organization dedicated to the restoration, preservation, and continued competition of retired Historic Winston Cup Cars. In order to participate with a contemporary stock car, a member must be a registered owner of an historic or vintage stock car.

The BMW PRO3 racing group will be starting their 9th season of exciting racing in 2011 here in the Pacific Northwest.
The PRO3 class was introduced in 2003 with the emphasis on driver development. PRO3 races with the sanctioning body ICSCC. The class is based on the rugged and readily available BMW E30 325i that was manufactured for the North American market between 1987 and 1991.
